Samuel N. Craney, age 81 of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at his residence.
Sam was born on October 25, 1943 in Washington, Indiana, a son of Paul James and Lola Marie (Armes) Craney. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Sam married Marie “Libby” Craney. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2023.
Sam is survived by his children, Norman (Jodi) Craney, Doug (Cindy) Garrison, Scott (Malisha) Craney, Jeff (Michelle) Craney, Karen (Dan) Albert; 21 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Sam was one of four children. He is survived by his oldest sister Judy (husband Ed) Adams of Avon, brother Steve (wife Jerry) Craney of Plainfield, and sister Brenda (deceased husband Leonard) Stringer of Avon.
Throughout Sam's professional career he worked at Indianapolis Power and Light (IPL) for nearly 40 years until his retirement.
Most importantly Sam was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, family member and friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis.
His funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Pastor John Dunaway will officiate.
Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery where Sam will be laid to rest with his wife Libby.
