Samuel Leon Dear

Samuel Leon Dear, 77 years old, of Guthrie Oklahoma, passed away and joined his heavenly father on October 31st, 2025. Samuel was born on March 9th, 1948 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Leon Dear and Francis Eagle Dear.

He grew up in Pleasant Valley, Oklahoma (Coyle) and attended Coyle Public School, later working as a field tool pusher in the oilfield for 25 years and fighting for his country in the Army.

He will be remembered by everyone that knew him for his ornery, happy personality and his list of jokes that he always had ready. Sammy would always say that his biggest accomplishment in his life was being a Veteran and accomplishing sobriety.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Francis Dear; sisters, Mary Marquardt and Martha Ann Dear; as well as several other family members that he was close to.

Samuel is survived by his 3 children, Tammie Wamsley of Perkins Oklahoma, Tonya Glasby and husband, Bryan Glasby of Yale, Oklahoma, and Terry Dear and wife, Kellie Dear of Ponder, Texas; sister, Leona Beeler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great- grandchildren.

A funeral service for Samuel will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

The family wishes to thank Companion Home Health and their nurses for their support and kindness. Samuel thought deeply of you guys.
