Samuel Oscar Freday, 78
Okeechobee – Samuel Oscar Freday died November 15, 2024. He was born January 18, 1946 in Fairdealing, Missouri to Floyd Leroy Freday and Clara Delores Grotts. Moving to Florida in 1973 (West Palm Beach) where he married, and started his family, and remained a resident for over 40 years, moving back to Missouri for 10 years, and then the last six months in Okeechobee, where he got to enjoy time with his daughters, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was a motorhead with a knowledge of classic cars like no other and a lover of NASCAR and a huge Petty fan. Loved to watch classic westerns, especially if John Wayne was in it. Loved to do sudoku and crossword puzzles.
He raised three kids as a single father and ran his own appliance business, but he did numerous other things too (jack of all trades) He was also a crane operator for Campany Roofing for the end of his working years before retiring. He had a heart of gold he would literally give the shirt off his back to help his loved ones and friends. He had a smile that would light up the room, always the jokester of the bunch. Well known for his work truck that was painted Richard Petty blue with "STP" and "43" on it, and his favorite yellow corvette. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Freday was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Leroy Freday and Clara Delores Grotts; son and best friend, Sammy Freday; sisters, Ruth Clark, Nellie Haege, Sallie Renick, and Mary Freday Askew; brothers, David Freday and Roy Freday; nieces, Debbie and Amanda, nephew Chuck Flint; and best friend, Granvel Griffin.
He is survived by his daughters, Dody Clarke (Bryan) and Lisa Freday (Ashley Nix), both of
Okeechobee, Florida; five grandchildren, Samantha Newlan, of West Palm Beach, Florida, Summer Clarke, Samuel Clarke, Seth Clarke and Sierra Clarke, all of
Okeechobee, Florida; two great grandchildren, Ren LeeAnn Leach and Jacobi Alan Clarke, both of
Okeechobee, Florida; brother, Lemuel Herman Freday (Nancy), of Strafford, Missouri; sisters, Nancy Clementson, of Lake City, Florida and Roberta Flint, Dysart, Iowa; mother of his children, Patricia Clements of Okeechobee, close friend Bruce Company (Jackie), of West Palm Beach; and a host of nieces and nephews.
