Samuel J. "Pete" Freeman, age 91, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 19, 2025. He was born on February 10, 1934, in Concord, North Carolina, to the late Sam Freeman and Mary Slone Edwards Morrison.

Samuel received his education through the public schools of Cabarrus County in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. He was a devoted and steadfast member of Zion Wesley AME Zion Church, where his faith and service were evident throughout his life. He faithfully served as a preacher steward, Sunday School Superintendent, trustee board member, men's booster, and was a proud member of the Golden Trumpets Choir. His commitment to the church and his love for the Lord touched many lives.

Known for his warm spirit and engaging personality, Samuel truly enjoyed talking with people and keeping those around him laughing. His presence brought joy, wisdom, and comfort to family, friends, and all who knew him.

Samuel was a hardworking man who dedicated many years of service to Cannon Mills, Overnight Trucking, and R.L Raffaldt Inc. He took pride in providing for his family and exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his life.

Samuel was also an avid sports fan and proudly supported the Washington Redskins, the LA Dodgers, and the Duke Blue Devils.

In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Freeman.

He leaves to cherish his one son, Derrick J. Freeman (Barbara), and one daughter, Rev. Patricia A. Wilkerson; three grandsons, Derrick Josh Freeman, Terry A. Spratt, and Antonio Spratt; three great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and two special daughters, Dorothy Jones and Teresa Parks, along with a host of extended family, church family, and dear friends.

His legacy of faith, laughter, service, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
