Samuel “Sam” Mark Gabriel passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2024 at the age of 35. A big character with an even bigger heart, Sam brought passion and creativity to everything he did.
Born in 1989 in Shorewood, Illinois to Candice (neé Stacey) and Mark Gabriel, Sam grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati. As an adult, Sam was an accomplished and well respected tattoo artist and painter, winning numerous awards and accolades for his tattoos throughout his career. His work took him to Florida, Los Angeles, and Hawaii, but Cincinnati and the loving family that surrounded him there was always home.
Sam was a fierce and loyal friend with a broad, supportive community of family, friends, colleagues, and clients; he left an indelible mark on all who met him. His loss is felt by many, locally and across the country.
Sam was preceded in death by stepmother Lisa Gabriel, and grandparents Eileen and Charles Gabriel and Betty and Richard Craft.
Sam is survived by his father, Mark Gabriel; his mother, Candice Gabriel; his sisters, Amy Hoerst and Michelle Gabriel (Jeff Salter); his brother Patrick Gabriel (Michelle); his nephews Charlie Hoerst and Levi Gabriel; his niece Natalie Hoerst; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
