Samuel "Sam" Hawthorne passed away peacefully on November 9th. Sam is survived by three devoted sons, Mike (Kirstin), Tim (Amy), and Chris (Lorine); and nine grandchildren, Owen, Jillian, Brianna, Derek, Charlie, Cassandra, Kyle, Izzy, and Lexi.

Sam was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he met his late wife, Dorothy "Dot," and he moved his family to Richboro in 1973, where he lived in the same home until his passing. While Sam leveraged his own business into a successful career, he's remembered for his strong sense of family and community. Three generations celebrated summers at Browns Mills, NJ, and family picnics were an annual tradition.

Uncle Sam was loved by his nieces and nephews, and he was an unofficial "uncle" to the children of lifelong friends. As a beloved Grandpop, he enjoyed watching games and performances almost as much as he loved just spending time with his grandkids. He never missed his boys' games or events, and he opened his yard to any neighborhood kid who wanted to play baseball, football, or hockey, frequently joining in the fun. He coached his sons through Northampton Little League – 14 teams altogether – and eventually served as League Commissioner.

Sam was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan – Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. Sam loved the guitar, from his younger days in a rock & roll band, through his retired years just playing around. He bowled on a men's team and with Dot in a mixed league. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golf trips whenever possible. During his retirement years, Sam loved watching old movies, playing cards, and going on cruises with Dot and their friends.

Sam will be missed by everyone who crossed his path. A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
