Mr. Samuel Harold Hill

Mr. Samuel Harold "Sam" Hill, age 87, passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 21. 2025 at his residence in Uriah, Alabama. He was born on October 26, 1938 in Thomasville, Alabama. Son of George and Kathleen Hill. Sam married the love of life Shirley Ann Jeter on November 27, 1976 in Uriah, Alabama where they lived for forty-nine years.

At age 17 he joined the Navy, where he served a better part of four years. He worked in construction work for a time, then he started driving a big truck and did this for thirty years until 2002 when he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and sitting at the kitchen table watching the wildlife outside the windows while drinking his coffee. He served on the North Baldwin, South Monroe Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-one years and has been the Fire Chief for the last nine years.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, George and Kathleen Hill; father and mother in-law Agee and Daisy Bell Jeter; three sons, Larry Gregson, Robert Hill and Jimmy Ray Gregson.

Sam is survived by his wife, Shirley and children, Bryan Hill of Uriah, Alabama. Cheryle Brooks of Bay Minette, Alabama, Samuel Hill of Washington, Vicky (Toney) McMillian of Uriah, Alabama, Betty (Jerry) Hoffman of Spanish Fort, Alabama Paula (David) Hudson of Bay Minette, Alabama, and Dakota (Catherine) Bryars of Bay Minette, Alabama; sister, Thelma (Albert) Jay of Bay Minette, Alabama; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC. with Reverend Wayne McMillian and Reverend Greg Shehan officiating.

Burial service will follow at Mineola Cemetery and immediately following will be a gathering at Little River Holiness Church 71740 US Highway 59 Little River, Alabama 36550. The family requesting all food donations be brought to the Little River Holiness Church.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Godwin, Dewayne McMillian, Jordan Tolbert, Mike Jay, Ricky Brooks, and Timmy Bryars.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty McMillian, Dilion Hudson, Blake Hoffman, and Frank Bryars.
