Samuel G. Mazzarelli, 82, of Goshen, CT, a businessman and entrepreneur passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the cherished husband of Carolyn (nee Conti), enjoying fifty-nine wonderful years together. He was born August 26, 1942, the son of the late Victor and Margaret (Kaster) Mazzarelli. He graduated from Torrington High School and UConn.

Always an inventor, and a jack-of-all trades (tinkerer), he went from founding Commercial Sewing, Inc as a one-man operation to expanding the business, with his sons, to include plants in several states and in Mexico. He holds several patents that have generated improvements to the power sport and marine industries. He also founded other businesses, including Franklin Products, Picarelli, Sur Last Fabrics, and Roll-Flex retractable awnings.

Sam was involved with many local and regional organizations. He served as President of the Torrington Jaycees, was a life-time member of the Elks, and past president and member of the Torrington Country Club, and former president of the New England Canvas Products Association. He also served on the Board of Finance in Goshen, where he resided, and volunteered in the restoration of The Warner Theatre. He was a communicant of St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen. He and Carolyn traveled a great deal – both for business and pleasure. He loved trips to Italy, Bermuda, and especially Anguilla.

In addition to Carolyn, he is survived by his three children, and eleven grandchildren: Suzanne (Steven D'Alessio), Stephen (Stephanie) and David (Maria); grandchildren Elliot (Sarah) Neski, Arwen Neski, Maya Neski, Isaiah Neski, Emily Mazzarelli, Kaitlyn Mazzarelli, Matthew Mazzarelli, Samuel Mazzarelli, Elizabeth Mazzarelli, Annalee Mazzarelli and Christian Mazzarelli, and step grandchildren Makenna and Emma D'Alessio. He leaves his brother James (Mary Jane) and two sisters Mary Bray (Jeff) and Debra Talbot (Paul), sisters-in-law Ann Mazzarelli, Nina (Harry) Truitt, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Victor & Michael and his granddaughter, Ashley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, (St. Louis de Montfort Parish), 71 North St., Goshen, CT with Msgr. Robert F. Tucker officiating. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Thomas of Villanova Church. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.
