Samuel V. Nardo
Samuel V. "Sam" Nardo, 79, of Erie, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on May 29, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Sam and Rose (Carricato) Nardo.
Upon graduation from Strong Vincent High School in the great class of 1962 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving eight years he was discharged and then joined the United States Coast Guard. In 1984, after 22 years of service, he retired at the rank of Senior Chief Aviation Machinist Mate. He was a Fixed Wing and Helicopter Flight Mechanic and Search and Rescue Air-Crewman. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War while in the United States Air Force as a F-105 Engine Mechanic.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel William Nardo, on April 30, 1974 in Port Angeles, Washington.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Elaine (Moon) Nardo; a son, Anthony William Nardo (Leanne Havely); a sister, Loretta Nardo; and a brother, Daniel Nardo (Mitzi). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Friday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Denny Adkinson. Burial will be private in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. Tenth St., Erie, PA 16511.
