Richard "Dick" D. DiMattio passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025.

He was born on September 3, 1942, a beloved son of the late Domenick and Emilia (Parlante) DiMattio.

Richard will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked at GTE/Verizon as a lineman and retired after 40 years, providing for his family with dedication and pride.

Outside of work, Richard found joy in the simple things-tending to his garden with special care for his fig and apple trees, tomatoes, peppers, and more. He could put a stick in the ground and the next year, it would bear fruit. His love for nature ran deep, and you could ask him just about anything-whether it was about the garden, the weather, or just how to fix something-and he would always have an answer. Richard's co-workers called him "The Whiz" as he could take anything apart and put it back together with ease.

More than anything, Richard loved being with his family and going for walks around the neighborhood. If company was over, there was always coffee brewing on the stove-because in his eyes, that was the only way to make it. His family will find comfort in knowing that with every sip of coffee, every stroll outside, and every bird that passes by, he'll still be with them-because getting him to stay indoors and relax was always a challenge.

Richard now joins his dear sister and brothers in Heaven: Mary, Antonio, Tony, John, and Bill. He missed them deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judy (Colicchio) DiMattio; his children: Michelle Schulz, Marc (Amy) DiMattio, and Vicki (Robert) Harris ; and his beloved granddaughter, Olivia Harris. Richard also leaves behind Chuck and Nora (Colicchio) Boehm, Don and Janet Colicchio and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday, July 9th, from 3 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 5 p.m. Burial will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
