S. Paul Oberholtzer, age 91, of Bowling Green, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Paul was born at home in Owen County on January 25, 1932 to Robert Bryan Oberholtzer and Bessie (Winkler) Graham Oberholtzer. Paul was a 1950 graduate of Patricksburg High School, having been on the undefeated basketball team of 1949-1950 season. Paul married the love of his life, Shirley (McClure) Oberholtzer on May 31, 1953. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a M.P.. Paul was one of the founding members of the Patricksburg Volunteer Fire Department and participated(with Shirley) in their annual fish fry for over 40 years.
Paul is survived by his children, Vicki (Marvin) Strouse, Cynthia Lovett, Dennis (Kelly) Oberholtzer, and Paula (Shawn) Wood; eleven, grandchildren, Bryan (Julee) Strouse, Angie (Chad) Bainter, Chandra (Mike) Rhea, Nick Lovett, Nathan (Kelly) Lovett, Nyle Lovett, Robert Oberholtzer, Samuel (Victoria) Oberholtzer, Jonathan Oberholtzer, Ethan (Lexie) Wood, and Evan Wood; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron, Carter, Noah, Jayna, Cady, Wyatt, Lilly, Lincoln, Kalyn, Josh, Calvin, Landon, Jeb, son-in-law, Philip Gillaspy, sister-in-laws, Anna Grace Oberholtzer, Dolores McClure, Shirley McClure and Connie McClure Kumpf..
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Oberholtzer, daughter, Barbara Gillaspy, siblings, David Oberholtzer, Anna Neisinger, Alice Keough, Kathrine Gammons, Fern Johnson, James Robert Oberholtzer, son-in-law, Henry Lovett, grandson-in-law, Paul Kumpf.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Paricksburg Christian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patricksburg Volunteer Fire Department.
