Samuel C. Polito, born in Buffalo, NY to Charles and Mary ( Colarusso) Polito, Sam grew up in Rochester, NY attending public school there. He enjoyed baseball and excelled in basketball while attending high school. After high school he joined the Marines and was extremely proud of his service, always sporting the Marine baseball cap and "Semper Fi" bumper stickers proudly attached to his cars. He was in constant contact with close comrades from his division. He was in touch with his high school classmates as well, attending all the reunions over the years which he looked forward to. Spending time with his friends was especially important to him.
He was an excellent barber by trade and later in life He worked at Ted's barber shop in Irondequoit for 25 plus years. In between his barber days, he was a restaurateur, owning and managing various businesses. He was a bit of a perfectionist and took pride in mastering what he learned.
Sam had a love for languages, spent time traveling and was an avid reader. he enjoyed going to the movies and was in a bowling league. You could always count on hearing fun facts he had learned or watching card tricks he wanted to show you. He loved dining out, sharing generously with many friends and family over the years.
In later years he spent more time getting to know his adult children and grandchildren in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and California.
He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Yanus of Nevada and his nephew, Mark Yanus. Sam is survived by his children, Susan (husband Stephen) Bailey, Julie (husband James) Horvath- d'Amico, Andrew Scott, Shaun Scott (wife Debra) and Brian Scott. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his cousins, nieces and nephews and the many friends he met throughout his life whom he shared his time with. Sam was laid to rest at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.

Oh my!! I was just talking about him today!! Was wondering if he was still around. I worked for him for 5 years at Cal´s lounge. So sorry for your loss!!
