Samuel "Sam" Allyn Speltz

Samuel Allyn Speltz, of Cochrane, WI, passed away peacefully at Winona Health Hospital on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the age of 86. He was born on March 26, 1939 in Winona to Arnold & Lillian Speltz. Sam grew up in Rollingstone, MN. On June 13, 1964, he married Kathleen Morgan and they were married for 56 years. Sam & Kathy operated Kochenderfer Oil Co. in Cochrane for 19 years. He then went on to work for Severson Oil Co. Sam was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma. In his free time, Sam enjoyed mowing lawn and going for joy rides around town.

Sam is survived by his sons, Ron (Diane) Speltz, Bruce (Lynette) Speltz and daughter, Diane (Donnie) Bjorge; grandchildren, Jenna (Tyler) Blaskowski, Mitchell & Jordan Speltz, Morgan (Evan) Pagel, Sara, Jacob & Matthew Bjorge; great-grandchildren, Grace & Lauren Blaskowski and special grand-pups, Mollie, Maggie & Oakley. Sam is further survived by his brother, Joe Speltz.

Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; son, Roger; parents, Arnold & Lillian; sisters, Elaine Foster, Jeanne Clappier and Anabelle Schuster; brothers, Donny, Ed, Rodney, Jim and Kenny Speltz.

Per Sam’s wishes, a private family service will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma, WI. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winona, MN.
