SHARON, Samuel Lee, of Burton, formerly of Flint, age 67, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Cremation will follow. Sam will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 North Ballenger Highway, Flint Township, where friends may visit 10:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. Friday, and 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Saturday. Sam was born in Chicago, Illinois, July 26, 1955, the son of Charles and Evelyn (Corbin) Sharon. He served in The United States Army 1974-1978. Sam married Cheryl Ann Taylor July 24, 1988 and they raised their children together. He was a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He worked as a house painter for many years. Sam ran around the East side of Flint and was easily recognized thanks to the fringe coat and stovepipe hat he wore. He had a permanent spot at several local watering holes, and made friends wherever he went. Sam loved to drink his beer and loved having friends and family around him, many staying over and waking upon his couch. Music, fishing, camping, and sitting by the campfire were also his interests. Surviving are: wife, Cheryl Sharon; children, Charles Sharon II, Michael and Jeniel Payne, Shawndell Payne, Chad Robbins, and Billy Moore Sr.; many grandchildren, and great grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (Robert) Wright, Mike Sharon, and Robert Sharon; Many nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Shane, and daughter Fawn.
