Samuel L. Shaw, age 84, of Bedford, Indiana passed away on March 9, 2025. He was born on July 30,1940 in Shoals, Indiana to Napoleon and Mabel (Bledsoe) Shaw.
He was a 1958 graduate of Shoals High School.
Sam is survived by his three sons: Scott of Liberty, MO, Brent of Gladstone, MO and Butch of Louisville, KY.
He was known in Bedford as the “Sign Man” and submitted countless letters to the editor to passionately defend any real or perceived restrictions on his individual freedoms. Most agreed with the principles he stood for but not necessarily the way he went about defending them, but Sam always did it his way.
Sam loved to sing, dance, and spend time with his friends and pets.
Cremation was chosen and a visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Monday, March 24th at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your local Humane Society or Hospice organization.
