Samuel Stamper Obituary

Samuel Stamper, a devoted husband, father, and proud military veteran, passed away peacefully at home in Copperas Cove, TX, on April 20, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 21, 1941, in Kirbyville, KY, Samuel led a life characterized by his unwavering commitment to family, service, and community.

Samuel proudly served 22 years in the United States Army, where he held the rank of Master Sergeant at his retirement in 1982. Throughout his military career, he completed two tours in Vietnam, earning distinctions such as the Purple Heart and a Silver Star for his bravery and dedication. His service to the nation was not only a testament to his character but also a source of pride for his family.

Following his military career, Samuel transitioned to civilian life by opening several carpet stores under the name Floors Unique. Nonetheless, his most cherished accomplishment was his enduring love for his wife, Ruth Ann Stamper. Together, they celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage, a partnership built on mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering support.

Samuel's personality was one of warmth and approachability; he was known to never meet a stranger and always had something kind or humorous to share. He held a profound love for family, evident through cherished memories of sitting out on the swing with loved ones, enjoying tractor rides, sharing family meals, and embracing the joy of holding new babies while exclaiming “stretchhhh.” Road trips to Kentucky ignited his fondness for family ties, where pride glimmered in his eyes when he recounted stories of his brothers and sisters.

He was a standup man whose humility shone through his actions, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Samuel’s family came first in his life; his love and attention were constant, and there was never any doubt about his presence, whether for family or friends.

Samuel leaves behind his loving wife, Ruth Ann Stamper, along with their three daughters: Alicia and Jay Krathwohl, Melissa Taylor and Rob Green, and Cheryl and Kurt Hocker. He is also survived by 9 beloved grandchildren: Sami Kae, Amber, Anna, Chase, Kerstin, Harlan, Nathan, Kaleb and Samantha, as well as 12 adored great-grandchildren. He is remembered and loved deeply. He was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Stamper and grandson Dale Hull.

As we reflect on the life of Samuel Stamper, we celebrate a man whose legacy of love, bravery, and family devotion will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
