My prayers and sympathy to Sam's family. Sam was my very best friend since we were teenagers, we went dancing everywhere together. He was so sweet and so much fun. He was like a bright star in my life. Rest in peace my dear friend . Della (Ruiz)Estrada

Sam was my colleague and, more importantly, my dance partner for many years while we both worked at Albuquerque High School. No one could out do Sam on the dance floor or in many other venues. We shared so many wonderful times, laughing and just enjoying life and enjoying the students. He always was interested in doing as much as he could for the students. He was a great teacher and mentor. I will always remember his outrageous sense of humor and that big smile and huge laugh. Sam, you will always hold a great place in my heart and in the hearts of many people and especially students that you taught. Reyna Luna, School Counselor

Our condolences to the family of lovable Siempre Sam. We were neighbors in Cimino Compound and so enjoyed Sam's company. We used to take long walks along the acequias and talk about everything from his teaching experiences to neighborhood mitote. Sam's sonrisa was a rayo de luz. We were lucky to know him and will miss him. Siempre, Rick and Layne Vickers Smith and Todd Torkelson of Santa Fe

Mr. Tapia, some of us were never the book type. We learn in different ways and by different incentives. I learned from you that even a shy introverted student can express themselves through the wonderful world of the arts. You taught through motivation and example. Your sincere caring for your students, commitment to the teaching profession and passion for your art are just some of the things that make you stand out as a wonderful being.
At a time when you could have easily used common education methods and discipline, you chose to teach with your heart.
Thank you Mr. Tapia.
