Samuel S. “Sam” Walls, Sr., 66, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 22, 1958, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Roy F. and June (Shuman) Walls.

Sam was a US Army Veteran, having honorably served from 1978 to 1984. His employment over the years included Letterkenny Army Depot, Olympic Steel, the AmVets Post 224 and the American Legion Post 46, both of Chambersburg. He was a member of various social clubs in the area, including the aforementioned AmVets Post 224 and American Legion Post 46 of Chambersburg, as well as the Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517 in Mercersburg and the VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing.

Sam is survived by his son, Jason A. Walls, and Jason’s mother, Carla, both of St. Thomas; grandchildren, Mackenzie L. Walls and Daylin J.M. Walls; sisters, Christina “Tina” McDearis and Michelle Toth; and significant other, Mary Kauffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Samuel S. Walls, Jr., and brother, Michael Walls.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 7, 2025, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Andy Ficks will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, where military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard of Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday morning in the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
