Samuel Lee Williford of Madisonville, Tennessee, born July 29, 1943 in Loudon, TN, passed at his home on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Sam retired from Davidson Textron, where he had a long career of teasing his coworkers. He enjoyed being a volunteer with Hopewell Fire Department for many years. He was a prankster and a giver at heart, never wanting anyone to go without. He never met a stranger. If he wasn't giving you a piece of candy or a tomato, he was giving you a piece of his mind. There will never be a better Papaw or bull-crapper. He could tell you right where you got your shoes.
Sam is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Susie & Jason Millsaps, Daughter-in-law Patty Jones and husband Gary; Grandchildren: Anna Summers and husband Austin, Ben Millsaps, Bailee Millsaps, Bethany Williford, Britney Williford, Briley Williford, Great grandchild Ryker Summers, Brother-in-law Eddie Kile, his beloved dog Gunner, many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Williford, son, Billy Williford; grandson, BJ Williford, Parents-in-Law Billie Welcome and Nellie Mae Wiseman, foster brothers Reuben Strange and Tom Strange; sister-in-law, Freida Sewell Kile; brother-in-law, David Sewell; and nephew, Michael Tbird Sewell.
Funeral 5 P.M. Sunday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Tim Gray officiating. Interment 11 A.M. Monday, Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery. Family will receive friends 3-5 P.M. Sunday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
