Sandra Alston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Brothers Funeral Home - Hampton on Jul. 6, 2025.
Sandra Yvonne Alston, known to many as "Sunshine," entered eternal rest on June 21, 2025. Born on April 20, 1957, Sandra was a source of joy, comfort and light to all she met.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Buttabean" Alston; her parents, Johnnie Hill and Dora Nettles-Hill; her brothers, Johnnie Hill, Jasper Hill, and Joe Hill; and her sisters, Gertha Chapman, Berneatha Green, and Lela Mae Thompson

She leaves behind her three children: Tisha Hill, RaShaunda Alston-Hill, and DeMount Alston.

She was a proud grandmother to Ariqa Everett, Isabella Choice, Mateus Peters, Noelle Olayemi, and RaShad Alston.

Sandra is also survived by her brothers, Ronald Hill and Carl Hill; and her sisters, Ernestine Banks, Thelma Hill, Mary Brown, and Everline Sykes. Her "Sister-N-Love" Verna Gore and "Sister-N-Christ" Sonya Everett-Lee held special places in her heart.

Sandra took comfort in her favorite song, "I Don't Mind Waiting" by Juanita Bynum, and she will be remembered in the hearts of her many sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends that were touched by her joyful spirit
