Sandra J. (Stewart) Barnett entered eternal rest on June 27, 2025. Sandra (Sandy) was born in Bridgeport, CT on December 24, 1940. She attended and graduated from Harding High School in 1957. She worked for General Electric (G.E.), Kennedy Center, and McKesson Labs for several years as well as Gary Crooks in Bridgeport, CT helping with Energy Assistance Program. Sandy (known as Little Dove) was also a member of Shinnecock-Setalcott Tribe in Long Island, New York. She was a member of and instrumental in the recruitment process for the American Indian for Development Association. She had an amazing collection of Native American jewelry. Sandy enjoyed going to pow wows, researching the family history, drawing, horseback riding, watching her favorite shows (Matlock, Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right & Forensic Files), keeping up with current events and spending time with her family, grandchildren/great-grandchildren who all called her "Dee."
She is pre-deceased by her parents Arthur & Louise Stewart, her daughter Wanda Holloway, grandson Corey Reddick and siblings: Gloria Heard, Ronald Stewart, LaWanda Stewart Hewitt, Arthur Stewart, and Jocelyn Stewart.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roosevelt Barnett, Jr, Carol Barnett and Mike Barnett both of Hamden, CT., her Aunt Jessie Stewart Brown of Blakeslee, PA, her sister Carol Stewart Davis (Tommie) of Blakeslee, PA, Alfred Stewart (Jennie) of Stratford, CT, special cousin Robert G Stewart (Chief Little Eagle) of Maryland, NY, Sister-in-Law, Jessie McDonald of Bridgeport, CT and Son-in Law Albert Holloway, Jr of West Haven, CT. Also, her grandchildren: Qaiyima McMillan (Gary), Albert Holloway, III (Sabra), Shuzea Smith, Ashley Meredith (Terrell), and Isaiah Barnett, great-grandchildren: Xavier McMillan, Reegan Holloway, Jaxson Chesney, Lennox Chesney, Dexter Chesney, Maddox Chesney, and Kyomie Barnett, special grandchildren: Alexis McMillan, Ali Meredith, Mark Meredith, and Jazelle Chesney and a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
