Sandra Katherine Benham (Horischak) age 89, a lifelong resident of Seymour passed away on February 18th at Griffin Hospital.
Sandra was born on January 11, 1936, in Seymour, CT, the daughter of the late Samuel and Elsie (Gluss) Horischak, and stepmother Anna (Skuret) Horischak. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1953.
She loved her husband, daughters and son-in-laws, grandsons and great grandson. She loved family events and always supported and encouraged her family in whatever their interests (music, sports and the arts, just to name a few). She enjoyed crafts, trips, shows, board games, birds, pets, animals, country music and was a fan of Elvis Presley.
Sandra is survived by her daughters Susan Benham and Debra Benham of Seymour, Cynthia Bova and her husband John of Wolcott, Darlene Cottle and her husband Jonathan of New Hartford and son-in-law Luigi Giardina of Southbury, her four grandsons Shawn Bova and his wife Marie, Justin Bova and fiancé Katelyn Ryan, Sebastiano Giardina and Zachary Giardina, and great grandson Landon Bova.
Sandra is predeceased by her loving husband Richard J Benham, daughter Charlene Giardina and grandson Christopher Bova.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Miller-Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour, CT 06483. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Sandra's life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at Church of the Good Shepherd - St. Nicholas Parish, 135 Mountain Road in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery 117 Mountain Road, Seymour.
