Sandra Durbin Bertone

With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our beloved Sandra Durbin Bertone, age 76, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at North Oaks Hospital. She was born, August 18, 1949, in Independence. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and love touched everyone who knew her. She had a passion for baking through her local bakery and her famous Wedding Boutique flavoring, a creation that became a cherished favorite for so many. Her warmth, creativity and dedication made her shop feel like home to all who walked through its doors. Beyond her business, Sanda found her greatest joy in caring for her family and spending time in the kitchen, where her love could always be tasted in every meal. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Louis Bertone, Jr; sons, Louis, III (Stephanie) Bertone and Gabriel Bertone; treasured grandchildren, Lauren Bertone and Mallory (Jacob) Vaughn; sister, Elaine (Don) Kinchen; brother, Anthony (Judy Magee) Durbin; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins – each of whom she adored deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Fricao Durbin and Sam Durbin; sister, JoAnn Durbin Muller; and grandparents, Josephine and Tony Fricano. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Andrew Stafford. Burial will follow in Colonial Cemetery, Independence. Sandra will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, her giving heart, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.
