Sandra Marie Broden who was known as "Shorty" was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lake (Baton Rouge). She was 61 years old and a long-life resident of St. James, LA.
Sandra was born on June 27, 1963, to the union of the late Thomas Broden Sr. & RoseMary Broden. She graduated from St. James High School on May 25, 1983.
Sandra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized on July 17, 1994 by Rev. Charles Geason Sr. She later moved her membership to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Jones and joined the choir. She was a prayer warrior. She started her employment working in the cane field for Falguost then later for Jerry Wood. She later moved on to Lamendola's in Gonzales in the deli and took on a second job at CF Industries cleaning up in the evenings. She was a hard worker and everyone loved "Shorty".
Sandra was a loving and supportive mother to her 3 children. She raised us to be the independent and strong adults we are today. Her grandkids meant the world to her and she would do anything for them and supported whatever they had going on. She was very family oriented and such a joy to be around. She was so caring, gentle, lovable, a sweetheart with a heart of gold and just an all around amazing person. If you knew her, you knew to love her. She definitely was the life of the party and a dancing machine at heart. She loved and cared for everyone, always had a smile that light up the room and her laugh was one to remember. She was so giving and made sure everyone was happy around her and would give you her last. She loved to cook and would feed everybody because she always looked out for others. Even through the hard times she never showed it and would still push through and never gave up. Win or losing she loved the New Orleans Saints and would always yell "Black and Gold".
Sandra leaves to cherish in her loving memories, 3 children, Krashina (Darrell Sr.) Leon, Braylon Broden and Kraylon Broden; siblings, Carl Broden, Adrian (Kenneth) Thompson, Stacy (Sandtrell) Broden, Justin (Janel) Broden and Ashley Broden; grandkids, Darrell Leon Jr., Dari'yon Leon, Darinae Leon and Kamree Broden; godchildren, Breyana Williams and Destiny Johnson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Broden Sr.; Mother, RoseMary Broden; maternal grandparents, Freddie Sr. & Dorothy Anderson; paternal grandparents, Walter & Viola Broden; brother, Thomas Broden Sr.; sister, Nancy Broden; sister, Melinda Broden; and nephew, Donrielle Broden Sr.
