Mrs. Sandra Gail Brown, age 79, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday, September 9, 2024. Mrs. Brown was born in Pembroke to the late Cecil Byron and Lucille Floyd Webster. She graduated from Bryan County High School in 1963 and attended Armstrong College in Savannah. She met her husband of 59 years, Dennis, through mutual friends while he was stationed at Hunter Air Force Base. After their marriage at Pembroke Methodist Church, they started their family in Savannah and then resided primarily in the Atlanta area. In her career, she worked her way up to Senior Claims Adjuster at FM Global while balancing caring for her busy family. She was also an avid reader and was rarely found without a good novel. In her well-deserved retirement, she returned to Pembroke where she was active in the local Red Hat Society, traveled with her husband, and enjoyed spending time doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Carlton Webster and his wife Myrline, Jimmie Webster and his wife Dale, and Cecil Daniel Webster.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Brown of Pembroke; daughter Dr. Serena Brown and her husband Phil Hollinger of Uriah, AL; son Dennis Brown Jr. and his wife Lisa of Pike Road, AL; niece Carlene Wolfe and nephew Daniel (Elaine) Webster; six grandchildren: Owen (Kevin) Messer, Jamie (Chad) Harris, Jessica Brown, Alison Brown, Rachel Brown, and Zachary Brown; four great-grandchildren: Chase Harris, Camden Harris, Cason Harris, and Joey Messer; and many beloved cousins and extended family members.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 11 A. M. Friday, Sept 13, 2024 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Tyson officiating.
