Sandra Brown Obituary

Sandra Pauline (Piotrowicz) Brown, 84, wife of Christopher Allyn Brown III, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 6, 2026.

Born March 12, 1941, in Phoenixville PA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Pauline (Ciemicki) Piotrowicz. Sandy was a devout Catholic and was a member of Holy Trinity RC Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She graduated from St. Pius X High School, received her bachelor’s degree from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA and her master’s from Temple University.

Sandy began her teaching career as an English teacher in the fall of 1968 at Owen J. Roberts Middle School where she met and fell in love with her husband, Chris. They were married in June of 1969. They spent their first years of marriage in Venezuela, teaching at the Mac C Lake school at the Orinoco Mining Company in Ciudad Piar from 1969 – 1972. They moved back to the US where Sandy stayed at home raising her daughters. Once the girls started school, she went back to the classroom and joined the Phoenixville School District as a Title I Reading Specialist in the district’s elementary and Catholic schools, teaching hundreds of students to read.

Sandy started her favorite job as a Babci (grandmother) in 2003 to her four grandsons. After retiring from teaching in 2005, she and Chris enjoyed traveling. They became snowbirds spending winters at their condo in the Dominican Republic and summers at their home in Lewes, DE. As a Babci she was best known for being a passionate fan of her grandson’s sports events or music concerts. She would cheer loudly with a “Booya!” or one of her many catch phrases such as “Knock their socks off!”, “Untie their shoelaces!” or “Shave their mustache!” If she couldn’t attend in person, she watched it online cheering her grandsons on just as loudly from home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three loving daughters Jennifer, wife of David Balcom, Avery Brown, and Christyn, wife of Nigel Glover. She is missed and loved deeply by her grandsons Alex and Connor Balcom, Jackson Stoll and Philip Glover. Sandy leaves behind her beloved sister, Louise Piotrowicz and was preceded in death by her other beloved sister, Blanche Saville. Sandy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sandy’s viewing at Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville PA on Wednesday, February 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. There will also be a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am on Thursday, February 12th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A luncheon to celebrate Sandy’s life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s honor to the Phoenixville Community Education Foundation https://www.pcefonline.com/donate/ or the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (designate “to the purchase of the new church organ”).
