Sandra Cheryl Capristo

Sandra Cheryl Capristo, affectionately known as Sandi to her friends and family, passed away on September 16, 2025, as a resident of Palm Harbor, FL. Born on August 17, 1949, in Waterbury, CT, to Harry and Kathleen (Tatro) Solberg, who predeceased her. She was raised in Cheshire, CT, alongside her sister Karen Solberg, and her late siblings Cecelia (Solberg) York and Allen Solberg. After many years of living in Connecticut she relocated to Florida in 2001 with her loving partner of 44 years, Rubens Barbosa, who predeceased her.
As a young mother, Sandi worked as a Manager at CVS before being able to become a stay-at-home mom. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children: Gary Capristo (partner Jody Gibson), Christine Bolton (husband Colin Bolton), and Michael Barbosa (partner Flavia Salluce).
Sandi poured her life into her family, her love she had for her children could be felt by all of those who met her. Her role in their lives stayed strong as they grew older. She seamlessly transitioned to the role of an doting grandmother, jumping at the opportunity to help raise her grandchildren. Sandi's loved nothing more than spending her time with her "babies", no matter how young or old.
Sandi loved coffee and the Game Show Network. She spent her time researching genealogy with her sister, reading records upon records, and sending each other their findings via "snail mail". She talked on the phone for hours a day, to her siblings, her kids, her grandkids, her friends, her family, but she would never text you back. She was a teller of tales, a singer of songs, and could get a stain out of anything.
Those who loved Sandi will remember her as a loving and powerful force.
In addition to her children, Sandi is survived by her grandchildren: John (fiancé Jordan McManus) Capristo (Tampa, FL), Matthew Capristo (Cape Coral, FL), Brianna Uhl, Abigail and Olivia Bolton (Palm Harbor, FL), and Vincent, Carlo, and Sophia Barbosa (Shrewsbury, MA). She is also survived by her two best friends, Barbara Mulcahy and Suzanne Biggins, as well as many nieces, nephews, other friends, and honorary grandchildren, among them Josh Deering & Lana Salluce.
Sandi had a deep love for the color lavender. If you are attending her services and would like to wear something more colorful, lavender would be a beautiful tribute in her honor.
