In Loving Memory of Sandra Elizabeth Chavez November 4th, 1953 - May 9th, 2025
Sandra Elizabeth Chavez passed away peacefully at Marin General Hospital at the age of 71, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Guatemala City in 1953 to Jose Bernardo Escobar and Zoila Augusta Jerez, Sandra was deeply rooted in her family's traditions from Tecpán. She carried forward the values of her grandparents, Gabina Jerez Tortola and Manuel Girón Paz, with grace and strength throughout her life.
Sandra was a proud mother to four children-Alfredo, Thelma, David, and Stephanie-and a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her love extended to her daughters- and sons-in-law, her siblings, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who cherished her deeply. Affectionately known as "Tana," a name lovingly given by her first grandchild, Sandra was the heart of her family due to the sacrifices she made coming to the United States. Her radiant smile, signature red lipstick, and Chanel No. 5 announced her presence with elegance and joy. She brought life to every gathering, especially during the holidays when her home became a wonderland of beauty and celebration.
Sandra had a passion for dancing, cooking, gardening, and decorating-her home was a reflection of her refined taste and vibrant spirit. She adored action films, romantic music, and road trips with the windows down and the music up. Her quick wit, infectious laughter, and giving heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her. To her grandchildren, she taught not only style and confidence but also the power of love, kindness, forgiveness, and strength. She welcomed everyone with warmth and a delicious meal, embodying the true spirit of hospitality.
Sandra leaves behind a legacy of foundation, laughter, and elegance. Her spirit-Tana-will echo through every family celebration, every blooming flower, every heartfelt laugh through memories. Though she is no longer with us in body, her energy lives on in the hearts of all she touched through the importance of creating long lasting relationships. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely. With all our hearts, we send her to heaven-forever cherished, never forgotten.

Te agradecemos el haber recibido el alma de nuestra adorada madre y el saber que ella ahora está contigo felizmente en tu reino y a tu lado.
