Sandra Clark Obituary

CLARK (Poole), Sandra

Sandra L. Poole Clark passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love that defined her life.

Born in Anniston, Alabama on June 22, 1950, Sandra's life was a remarkable journey filled with unwavering faith, boundless kindness, and a deep commitment to enriching the lives of others. Her academic pursuits, beginning with her graduation from Cobb Avenue High School and continuing at the prestigious Tuskegee University, were not merely a means to an end, but a foundation for her inspiring career as an educator. For over 25 years, she dedicated herself to the students of the DeKalb County School District, shaping young minds and leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sandra played an active role as a Charter Mother Member in the Stone Mountain Chapter of Jack and Jill. Sandra found profound solace and community at Greenforest Community Baptist Church. Her active participation, particularly in Sunday school, allowed her to share her warmth, faith, and unwavering spirit with everyone she encountered. She was a pillar of the church, a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

But Sandra's life wasn't solely defined by her professional and religious commitments. She found joy in the simplest of things: the rewarding experience of volunteering, the thrill of exploring new places, the satisfaction of a perfect shopping spree, and, most importantly, the immeasurable love she shared with her three grandsons, Christopher, Jaden, and Cameron. They were the light of her life, and the memories she cherished most were those spent laughing and taking them on many adventures. Those precious moments remain a testament to the depth of her love and the joy she found in family.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Willam Poole; sister, Marva Phillips; and brother, Richard Poole. Sandra leaves behind a legacy of love that extends far beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her mother, Louise Lee Brady; her brother, Rufus Poole; her son, Brandel Clark; her daughter, Cantrece Clark (Chris); and her cherished grandsons, Christopher, Jaden, and Cameron. She will be deeply missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her extraordinary kindness and generosity.

Sandra's life was a radiant example of selfless service and unwavering love. While her physical presence is gone, the light of her spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts. Her memory will serve as a constant source of strength and inspiration, a reminder of the profound impact one life can have on so many others. Although her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt, we find comfort in celebrating the beautiful life she lived and the immeasurable love she shared. A Funeral will be held on May 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Greenforest Community Baptist Church, 3250 Rainbow Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sandra's memory to either Sisters Network, Inc., a national African American breast cancer survivorship organization (https://www.sistersnetworkinc.org/), or The American Brain Tumor Association (http://www.abta.org). These organizations embody the values of compassion, kindness, and generosity that Sandra exemplified throughout her life.

I met Sandra in 1972 after she and my friend "Mickey" Clark graduated from Tuskegee in 1972. Their first stop in Atlanta was at my and Cathy, my wife´s, apartment. Sandra always had that sharp cutting wit and humor. No matter what I could always make her laugh. She has not only been a good friend but a good and faithful patient of mine for many years. I am so saddened and hurt by news of her demise. I will miss her but I shall never forget her wit and that smile. I send my condolences to her children, other family members and friends. She was a wonderful lady and a beautiful human being. May she rest in eternal peace and her memories stay with us forever. Good bye Sand.
