Sandra Lee Davis (Purchis), of Hastings, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, at the age of 85.
Sandy was born to Maurice and Ardis Purchis on August 28, 1939, in Nashville, Michigan. She also grew up in Nashville where she enjoyed small town life and made many lifelong friends and memories. She would often fondly reminisce about her years cheerleading, serving as school newspaper editor, being chosen homecoming queen and her many close friends.
Sandy is survived by sons Nick (Kelly) Davis, Shaun (Pamela) Davis, Joel (Marci) Davis, Matt (Terese) Davis and daughters Alissa (Rick Post) Davis, and Darcie (Rod) Purdun. She is also survived by grandchildren Grant (Tatiana) and Bryce (Raegen) Davis, Sidney Dudley, Brandon and Cami Davis, and Abigail and Alec Davis, along with great grandchildren Barrett and Beckham Davis, and brothers Max and Rex Purchis. Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents, and sister Brenda.
Sandy's life was devoted to caring for children; first her own six, then hundreds in the community, and finally her grandchildren. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, happy, and loved.
For Sandy, her Christian faith was more than just talk; it was how she lived her life and treated others. Coming from deep within her heart was her kindness, generosity, politeness, unconditional love and always knowing how to comfort and make things better. At the center of Sandy's world was family. She created a loving home where she displayed her flair for decorating, cooking, crafting, and where everyone was always warmly welcomed. Of all of Sandy's many and amazing super powers, the most remarkable was her sense of humor, which overflowed with contagious laughter and a quirky wit.
Sandy was a beautiful soul who was loved by all who really knew her. She was a sweet and kind person, but fiercely loyal and protective of her family. Sandy was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well being of her family. The world will miss her grace, warmth and beauty. She will be profoundly missed.
