Sandra K. Elder passed away on February 15, 2025, in Syracuse, Indiana. She was 81 years old.

Born on July 24, 1943, she was the daughter of John & Mable (Luke) Weldy. She grew up in the Goshen area and was a proud graduate of Goshen High School. Early on, she learned the value of hard work and dedication

Sandra is remembered for her nearly 25 years of service with Tenneco, where she made lasting contributions to her team and fostered friendships that enriched her life. Later, her passion for plants and nature led her to work at Macintosh Greenhouse, a role she cherished. Even after retirement, Sandra's commitment to her work remained unwavering; she took on a part-time position in the deli at a local grocer and continued her search for new opportunities well into her 80s.

Sandra was known for her kind spirit and vibrant energy. She always had a kind word for anyone she met and always left a positive impression. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often rising early to enjoy the serene moments of watching snow fall or witnessing the leaves change color, all while savoring a warm cup of coffee.

Sandra is survived by her loving family: her sons, Roger (Chrissy) Smith of Syracuse and Daniel K. Smith of Syracuse; her daughter, Shelly (Jeff) Higginbotham of Syracuse; her grandchildren, Ayla Bolling, Owen Smith, Oakley Smith, Sky Smith, Jefrey Higginbotham, and Allen Higginbotham; as well as her great-grandchildren, Hayden and Asher. She also leaves behind her siblings, Carol Elder, Rolene Taylor, and Barry Weldy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet Elder; her parents, John and Mable Weldy; and her brother, Ronnie Weldy.

A memorial gathering will be held on February 25, 2025, from 4PM to 6 PM, followed by a Life Celebration® beginning at 6PM - Glenn Hall will officiate the Life Celebration® . All services will take place at Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse.
