At 4:39 pm Friday July 11, 2025, Sandra Lynn Evans, 77, of Weems, Virginia extended her wings and flew away to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a cherished wife, mother, "Nanny", Sister, Aunt and friend.
Sandra was born in Baytown, Texas on July 16, 1948, and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1966. She later moved to Virginia in 1971. She held true to the saying "You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the girl". She was not afraid to share her love and passion for her home state, especially her dedication to the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.
If you knew Sandra, then you knew she had a smile that was truly infectious and could light up any room. She made friends easily wherever she went. Whether it was at Evans Bowling Alley that she helped her husband run for 43 years, the Veterinarian office where she was a vet assistant or the Flower Shop where she made beautiful creations to brighten someone's day. Sandra also had many other passions. One being her pond and all of her many flower gardens where she would often tend to from sunup until sundown. If she wasn't out in the yard, she was probably on the dance floor teaching line dancing, unless it was a Saturday night where she would dance the night away at the Beacon in Topping, VA with her beloved husband. Her love of dance is something that she shared with her daughter whom she spent many years chauffeuring up and down the road to dance class and competitions all around the state, helping her dream become a reality of an almost 30-year dance career.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, John Wilson Evans Sr.; her children, Michael J. Siddall (Espie), Shona R. Evans-Pacheco (Steven Sr.), Johnny Evans, Jr., John Evans, 3rd (Jennifer); her 13 grandchildren; her 14 great grandchildren; her brother Donald Walker and sister Catherin Hoskins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock, VA. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Currie Funeral Home. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life Reception will take place following the internment at The Hayden Building at Dreamfields Ball Park, 1385 Irvington Road Weems, Va. 22576.
The family requests that everyone attending wear bright happy colors! Her favorites were Dallas Cowboy blue/silver and purple to represent her strength with Alzheimer's.
