Sandra Geist Obituary

Geist, Sandra "Sandy"
February 23, 1944 - January 11, 2023

Sandra "Sandy" Geist passed away peacefully at her home in Lakewood, CO, surrounded by family and friends. Following a significant stroke on December 19, 2022, she was unable to recover and died three weeks later, on January 11, 2023.
Born in Seattle on February 23, 1944, Sandy was raised by Eugene Drexel Geist and Dorothy (Maghan) Geist and lived nearly all her days in Denver. Sandy's Sophomore and Junior years were spent at East High School and she graduated her Senior year at George Washington High School in Denver. It was 1961 and she was one of their very first graduates. She remained active with school reunions and kept in touch throughout her life with dozens of friends from as far back as grade school.
A divorced, single Mom, Sandy worked hard to earn her place in the business world. Starting as a legal secretary, she got her big break when hired by Peat Marwick & Mitchell and worked her way into the field of Marketing. Sandy flourished in this field and became one of the first ever marketing executives employed by a Big Eight accounting firm. She mentored many who would follow her and taught a college course in Event Planning at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
As "Sandra Geist Unlimited," she worked with clients like the Denver Foundation and the Minoru Yasui Award and handled marketing for law firm Holme Roberts & Owen before taking an administrative leadership role with the international College of Law Practice Management, an honorary Fellowship recognizing achievement and innovation in the business of practicing law.
Sandy greatly enjoyed her retirement years with her beloved husband, James Geist, to whom she was married for 30 years before he passed in 2017. They traveled all over the US and Mexico, Sandy seeking ocean waves, and Jim seeking a good game of golf. Volunteer work was a big part of her life right up to her last days, tutoring kids, adults and elders in reading, speaking English and jewelry making. All who knew her admired the complex hand-beaded works of art she produced.
A true people person, Sandy's joy of life touched countless others in her community, and her many life-long friends will miss her greatly. She is survived by daughter, Stephanie Silver; son-in-Law, David Silver; stepson, Christopher Geist; sister, Stephanie Constable; brother-in-Law, Terry Constable; many cherished Nephews and Nieces.
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held in the spring, information to follow on the Horan & McConaty Obituary Tribute Wall. A heartfelt thank you goes to Elevation Hospice for easing Sandy's way. Sandy's family asks that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory, please do something kind for someone less fortunate than you.
