Funeral Mass for Sandra (nee Subel) Hallen, 79, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Fr. Tom Elsasser will officiate.
Sandra passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at her home in Mentor.
Born Nov. 16, 1944, in Cleveland, Sandra had been a resident of Mentor for 50 years.
Sandra was and is a loved wife of Roland for nearly 60 years, a faithful parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption for 50 years and a proud registered nurse for 30 years at Hillcrest Hospital. She was involved and helpful with 4-H, many PTA's and a wealth of other extracurricular activities. Sandra cherished being with her Red Hat friends after retirement.
She was an amazing student, leading to being valedictorian of her class at both Lakeland Community College and Ursuline College. Sandra truly found the beauty in nature, whether planting flowers, camping at an amazing amount of parks throughout the country, or just watching and laughing at the squirrels trying to eat bird food.
Sandra loved to read and learn, especially history, during her many travels in North America and Europe. She loved to share her education and wealth of knowledge to her loved ones along the way. Sandra took pride in being frugal and finding a bargain, which she then shared with others.
She was always capable of finding enjoyment in every aspect of life and was always looking forward to spending time with her many loved ones. Sandra is loved and will be forever missed!
Sandra was the beloved wife of Roland J. Hallen; loving mother of Sandra (Mitch) Kutash, Joseph Hallen, James Hallen and Susan Hallen; cherished grandmother of Lindsay, Jonathan and Jordan; sister of Carol (Greg) Lieb; sister-in-law of Sandy Subel, Agnes Kirsch and Carol Hallen; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Olga (nee Molodec) Subel; brother, Edward Subel; and brothers-in-law, Joe Kirsch and Bob Hallen.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday April 21, 2024 at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2) Mentor, Ohio. Burial will follow Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
