Obituary of Sandra Ann Hauenstein
EAST GREENBUSH –
Sandy A. Hauenstein, 74, of East Greenbush, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family on Friday, September 19, 2025.
She was born on June 6, 1951 in Troy, NY. A daughter of Catherine Horton and the late Clifton Horton.
In childhood, Sandy was raised in Wynantskill, NY, she lived most of her adult life in Nassau, NY, and later in her life East Greenbush, NY. She was a dedicated wife and devoted mother and caregiver to many family members. Sandy was not only a beloved wife and mother but sister, aunt, grandma, and friend.
She dedicated her life to supporting and nurturing those she held dear. Sandy will be warmly remembered as a kind, generous soul, who was loyal and someone you could count on. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to county fairs, and visiting Hampton Beach, N.H. Sandy was a great cook and enjoyed sharing meals with her family and playing bingo and cards with her sister.
She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren. Sandy also loved animals, especially cats and kittens and would care for stray kittens.
In addition to her mother, Sandy is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Hauenstein, whom she married at St. Jude's Church in Wynantskill on April 12, 1970; her children and their spouses: Jill (Chris) Lorette, Sherry (Chuck) Maguire, John (Jessica) Hauenstein and Scott (Melissa) Hauenstein. Her grandchildren: Alyssa Maguire, Amber Lorette, Lauren Hauenstein, Riley Hauenstein, Emma Hauenstein, Logan Hauenstein and one brother surviving, Cliff Horton and one sister-in-law Eileen Horton.
In addition to her father, Sandy was predeceased in death by her brothers Donald and Terry Horton, her sister Catherine Santana, and sister-in-law Kathy Horton.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. Services will be privately held at the family's convenience with inurnment in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum in Troy, NY.
