Kay Hess, 71 of Monroe, NC, went to be with Jesus on Friday, January 30, 2026.
She was born on April 18, 1954, in Bluefield, West Virginia, she was the daughter to the late Harry and Edna Hess.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Road, Monroe, NC 28110. A private interment will be at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
Kay was a 1972 graduate of Honaker High School in Honaker, VA, she resided in Honaker, Lebanon, and Abington, VA before moving to Monroe, NC in 2007. She loved God, her family, and friends. She was especially fond of cats, having many of them over the years. Her current precious fur baby was BooBoo whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed music, having served as a pianist, organist, and choir director in several Virgina churches as well as Monroe, NC churches. She was a member of Love Baptist Church, in Monroe, NC and also played the piano. In years past when health permitted, she loved going to the beach, traveling, fishing, and flower gardening.
She was a retired Administrative Assistant from VA Tech Cooperative Extension in Abingdon, VA with 33 years of service. She also retired from South Piedmont Community College, in Monroe, NC as an administrative assistant with 11.5 years of service.
There are no immediate surviving family members, however she is survived by several cousins and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
