Sandra Hoopes Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) J. Hoopes

February 11, 1938 - March 16, 2026

Wichita, Kansas - Known for her big blue eyes and bright smile, Sandra (Sandy) J. Hoopes, passed peacefully on March 16, 2026. Created by God and born February 11, 1938, in Alliance, Ohio to Ennio and Lucretia Alfani, Sandra was one of five children: the late Gerald Alfani, the late Linda Allison, the late Michael Alfani, Charlene Yohe (Ohio), and Lucretia Hyett (Alabama). All with extended families across the east coast. Sandy and her then husband, Robert Hoopes, raised one child, Heather Hoopes-Matthews who resides in South Carolina with her husband Jim.

While Sandy's professional career in Kansas started in banking, the Wichita State graduate launched a successful estate sale business in the 1980's and continued working until the day of her stroke, January 19, 2022. She loved her clients, her loyal customers and the army of friends and colleagues who helped make every estate sale special. Throughout her life, Sandy enjoyed painting, helping others, hosting parties at her house and watching Hallmark movies for what seemed like all night with Lady Gaga (her cat).

Burial has already taken place at Resurrection Cemetery mausoleum on Maize Road in Wichita, Kansas. A memorial service celebrating Sandy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sandy are welcome to Catholic Charities, 437 N. Topeka Street, Wichita, KS 67202. Arrangements through Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
