Sandra Jean (Hammond) Knutson, 86, of
Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin passed away on May 27, 2025 at Hilltop Grand Village.
Services for Sandra will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Sandra was born on November 18, 1938 in Brokaw, WI to Leslie and Anita (Merklein) Hammond. She married Carroll (Kelly) Knutson on October 10, 1959. She completed her training as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Nursing School, Marshfield, WI. She was a proud supporter of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts programs and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Over the years, she provided private care for many in the community, including Kelly's mom and several close friends.
Her father, Les, instilled in her a love of wildlife, picking berries and being outdoors. Sandra loved dogs, cats, deer and birds (especially cardinals). Kelly and she spent many weekends camping with family and friends.
Sandy and Kelly were blessed to spend much of their retirement years with their grandson, Cody, and shared his love of baseball and snowmobile racing. She was proud to have two granddaughters-in-law that were nurses.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Carroll (Kelly); her children: Steve (Kathy) Knutson, Brian Knutson, Chris (Lisa) Knutson, and Jenny Knutson; grandchildren: Cody (Brittany) Knutson and their children Brynlee and Owen, Dan (Maggie) Knutson and their children Olivia, Cecilia, and Connor, Mark Knutson, Andy Knutson, and Ben Knutson; and two brothers: Wayne (Mary) Hammond and Larry (Gloria) Hammond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Anita Hammond.
Sandra lived by the Florence Nightingale Pledge in her duties as a registered nurse.
"I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care."
