Sandra (Sandy) A. Koczan, 57, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on September 21, 2025, in Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. She was born on October 22, 1967, in South Bend, Indiana, to Joseph and Bonnie (Poznanski) Koczan. She was a 1986 graduate of Hamilton South East High School in Noblesville, Indiana.
She will be deeply missed by her family, brothers Christopher Alan (Sheryl Lynn) Koczan and Joseph Thomas (Eileen) Koczan, sisters "adopted by love" Gina (Jason) Payne, Danielle (Ryan) Swan, Robin (Jason) Story, Cara (Sam) Berkley, Jacqueline (Michael) DeCoteau Telfer, her aunt Mona (Samuel) DeSimone and cousins April (Todd) Pontius and their son Austin, Dawn (Kent) Craig and their son Dylan, nieces and nephews Briana, Rachael, Sarah (Cole) Hoing, Michelle, Christopher II, Alyssa Koczan, "adopted by love" Tony (Taylor) Milata, Shelby & Tyler Payne, Ashley Janisse, Stephanie Thomas, Brooke Sprouse, Brandon, Shane, Elizabeth Story, Benji Royer and Derrick Lindsey.
Sandy loved her Mom Bonnie, Dad Joseph, and her family and friends dearly. Sandy loved Winnie the Pooh, photography, Disney, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, and the Indianapolis Colts. She loved cooking and caring for her loved ones, especially with her exceptional peanut blossom cookies.
Sandy had a successful career as an accountant, including work at Golden Rule and Management 2000. She became a full-time caregiver for her beloved father Joseph in 2007. She was a former member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Indianapolis, where a Mass is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2025. The Memorial Gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., also in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health, the National Wildlife Fund, or to St. Monica's Catholic Church.
Inurnment will be at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. Arrangements by Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North. www.flannerbuchanan.com.
Sandy gave the greatest gift at the end of her life by being an organ donor through the Indiana Donor Network. Her life-giving gift will be included in the network's memorial in Indianapolis, Indiana.
