Sandra Kay Lillard

Sandra Kay Lillard, 65, of Orange, VA passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born on August 8, 1958 in Charlottesville, VA to Dorsey and Dora Shifflett. She was proceeded in death by her mother Dora and her sister Doris Ann.
She is survived by her husband Tom Lillard; her daughter Jennifer Evans and husband Jesse; her two sons, Tommy and James Lillard as well as her sister, Patty Rogers, two nieces, Ashley Childress and husband Casey along with their son Milo and Samantha Rogers along with her son Asher, brother David Earl Shifflett and wife Judy as well as five amazing grandchildren: Christopher, Peter, Julie and Bella Evans and Jacob Lillard. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 7:00pm. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-6:45pm before the memorial service. The burial will be private.

Sandra was an incredible woman. She was the light of her husband Tom's life. They were married for 42 years and always stood by each other through life's many storms and trials. When her children were young there was never a baseball game, wrestling match, piano recital or school event that she was not there for unless, her and Tom had to go in opposite directions to take different children to events on the same day. She found great joy in being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. She loved every second she spent with them: from watching a movie on the sofa to vacationing in Yellowstone with Jennifer's family or watching Jacob score winning shots at his basketball games.
She was present for every moment of their lives she could possibly be at. She had more friends than can be mentioned here. If you knew her, you loved her. Her kindness, laughter, joy and gratitude knew no bounds. This world will be just a little less bright without her in it, but we pray that she is at peace in heaven resting in a new light and the love of her Lord.
