Sandra Jordan Looney

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Jordan Looney, who left us on June 14, 2024, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Born on October 27, 1961, in Gadsden, AL, Sandra lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Wyatt Hayes Ritchie; parents, Kenneth & Maxine Jordan; her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Jordan Gilliland and Charles Gilliland; her brother and sister-in-law, Kenny Jordan and Brenda Jordan; and her brother-in- law, David Harp. Sandra's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by the following: She shared 36 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Mark Looney. Her cherished daughter, Jordan Looney Ritchie, and son-in-law, Josh Ritchie, were the pride of her heart. Her granddaughters, Fiona Scarlett Ritchie, and Emerson Jaymes Ritchie, brought her immense joy and pride, and her legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on in them. Her sister Ann Harp was like a second mother to Sandra and remained her confidant. Her extended family includes her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law Glenn & Diana Looney, and Alan &Cynthia Looney, and a host of nieces & nephews. Sandra attended Attalla schools and graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Biology. She briefly taught school before beginning her career as an environmentalist for the State of Alabama. Sandra inspected schools, restaurants, and other businesses in Etowah County for 29 years, retiring as the county's Environmental Supervisor. Sandra's favorite roles in life were mother to her daughter and Mawmaw to her grandchildren. No service will be held at Sandra's request. In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandra's memory to a child or pet charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping both.
