Sandra (Sandi) Madia, 74, passed away in her sleep on March 9th at her home in Sheridan, Wyoming. She had battled COPD and Cancer for many years before her passing.
Sandi was born December 29, 1950, to Donald and Norma (Stene) Sundby in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Upon graduation she married and later welcomed the birth of her daughter, Michelle, in March of 1970. The couple would divorce a few years later. Sandra worked as a Directory Assistance Operator for Northwestern Bell in Sioux Falls.
In 1979, married John Madia. They lived in Sioux Falls, then in 1980 moved to Casper, Wyoming. Sandi continued to work for the telephone company there. In 1983 the couple and their two daughters transferred to Denver, Colorado with, then, Mountain Bell. She worked in various capacities for the phone company including Executive Assistant, Cable Records Administration, and Human Resources. The couple worked in Denver and Portland, Oregon over the years. John took a couple of International work assignments offering Sandi the ability to travel extensively in Europe. She and her family traveled throughout the United States logging 22 states over the years.
In addition to traveling, Sandi most enjoyed venturing into the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming searching for moose, her favorite animal. She was an avid reader, loved to go camping, and, of course, having an occasional beer. Sandi loved going fishing with her husband and the guys. She would sit on the stream bank reading a good book and sipping a beer. Rocky Mountain National Park and the Hayden Valley of Yellowstone National Park were her favorite places to visit. She loved country music but enjoyed other genres as well.
Sandi is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, John Madia, daughter Kristina Eberly, and grandson Tyeden Eberly, all of Sheridan, Wyoming; Granddaughter Rheanna Madia of Casper, Wyoming; daughter Michelle Adkins's and granddaughter Kaitlyn, both in Tucson, Arizona; Granddaughter Chelsea Canfield of Augusta, Kansas and grandson Nicola Adkins's of Camas, Washington. Siblings Diane Hayduk, Debbie Sundby and Randy Sundby, all of Omaha, NE. Her parents and her brother Gary Sundby preceded her in death.
A luncheon remembrance and Celebration Of Life will be held, Friday, May 30, 2025 at noon at the Champion Kane Reception Hall. She does ask that one might hoist a beer--in her memory--she was partial to Bud Light.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Champion Kane Funeral Home.
