Sandra Conaway Mason, 89, passed away peacefully on February 9 in
Katy, Texas. She was born in
Fairmont, West Virginia, and later made Katy her home, living in the Memorial Parkway neighborhood for more than 50 years.
Sandra graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1954. Early in her career, she worked at Hope Gas Company, where she met the love of her life, Jesse Mason, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime.
Sandra was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated 30 years as a secretary for the Memorial Parkway Community Association, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and steady presence. She also proudly served the families of Katy as a bus driver for Katy Independent School District, a role she carried out with care and commitment.
In her quieter moments, Sandra found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved hosting Sunday family dinners, playing bingo, visiting the pool, listening to Tom Jones, spending time at the beach, crocheting, cross-stitching, creating hand-sewn quilts, and solving puzzles and crosswords, many of which she shared with family and friends. She was also grounded, practical, and a playful prankster, always ready to bring a smile to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse E. Mason.
She is survived by her children: Katherine M. Brown, Robin L. Mason, Willard L. Mason, Jessica M. Bobicchio, and Melissa M. Jarvis; her grandchildren: Katie Bond, Ryan Wirth, Sara Mason-Rosales, Amber Coleman, Danny Mason, Andrew Jarvis, Mason Jarvis, Alex Bobicchio, and Jesse Bobicchio; and her great-grandchildren: Chloe, Jon, Logan, Emery, and Ayrabella.
Sandra will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she served so faithfully.
