Sandra Maurer Obituary

A lifelong area resident, Sandra was born on March 15, 1941, the daughter of Francis and Violet (Furber) Morse.
After graduating with the Ashtabula High School Class of 1959, Sandra earned her bachelor's degree from Kent State University's School of Nursing. She devoted much of her career to serving as a nurse with Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she cared for patients with compassion until her well-deserved retirement in the late 80s. Sandra was an active member of the Lion's Club and a devoted member of The Ridge Nazarene Church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, crafting, and working on puzzles of all kinds.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Ed Searles; children, Corey (Elaine) Nelson and Kimberly (Joseph) Mattina; brothers, Larry (Loretta) Morse, Rick (Linda) Morse, and Roger (Carlos Garcia) Morse; grandchildren, Joshua D. (Aimee) Nelson, Jeremiah A. Nelson, Mathew J. (Christina) Slocum, Mark A. Slocum, Jason G. Slocum, Brandy (Matt) Draves, Stephanie Nelson, Kristina (Cawicha) Bravo Lazaro, and Rusty Nelson; niece, Brenda Morse King; and nephew, Daniel Morse. She also had 12 great-grandchildren.
Aside from her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her children, Gregory Nelson, Scott Nelson, and Randall Nelson; her brother, Jerry Morse; and nephews, Trevor Morse, and Robert Morse.
A funeral service will be held at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave, Ashtabula, OH, on Monday, September, 22, 2025 at 12PM. Calling hours will take place from 10AM – 12PM. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery.
