Sandra Jean Hansen McCluskey, our beautiful wife, mother and grandmother left her earthly cares behind on September 30, 2025 in Tooele Utah.
Sandy (as she was known by many) came to this earth two months early on December 11, 1945 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She weighed in at 4 lbs. She was an incubator baby and when her parents brought her home, she was kept warm by the open oven door. Her parents were Lionel Morris Hansen and Sarah Vadna Heiner Hansen.
Sandra arrived 12 years after her closest sibling who happened to be a sister. Elaine Hansen Hale (Fred) was her only sister, and Lionel Lavon Hansen (Alova) along with Dale Reid Hansen (Carol) were her brothers.
Sandra grew up on England Avenue in Tooele Utah. She was a great friend; therefore she had many wonderful friends that she made in childhood and throughout her life. When she was only 14, she met the love of her life and best friend of 65 years: Gary Ned McCluskey. They dated through out High School and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 22, 1963. She was 17 and he was 18. She always loved to tell us that they were in the waiting room of the Temple when they got the news of President John F. Kennedy being shot in Dallas Texas.
Gary was in the Navy, so their first home together was in Charleston South Carolina. They moved back to Utah and were blessed to have two children: Travis Ned McCluskey and Jana Lynn McCluskey Hale (Roger). Sandra's children and their spouses blessed her with 7 grandchildren: Lorena Nicole McCluskey Ortiz (Jake), Jayci Jean Hale Davis (Jalen), Haylie Lynn Hale, Alivia Lou McCluskey Meono (Nephi), Paige McCluskey Paxton (Jake), Zackary Roger Hale (Lindsay) and Ian Ned McCluskey. She was also delighted to have two great grandchildren: Nova Rae Ortiz and Jett Christopher Davis.
Sandra developed many talents throughout her life. She always kept an immaculate house and made wonderful Sunday meals where friends and family would gather. Her ability to bake Christmas cookies and whip up batches of candy was unparalleled. She learned to decorate cakes, sew, crochet, macrame', craft, arrange flowers and garden. She and Gary kept a pristine yard full of her favorite flowers. She canned pickles, pears, peaches, green beans and fabulous chili sauce.
Sandy had many different occupations over the years. Her favorites were: cosmetology, real estate, TEAD Supply Specialist, eyeglass specialist, reading aide and volunteer. She held many different positions in her LDS faith, and she loved to volunteer at GHS doing yard work. Sandy was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Grantsville Chapter for many years, and she cherished the friendships made there.
Sandra is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Kandi Rae Turman and Vesta Jacobs, and her brother-in-law Maury Roe Jacobs, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brothers. Also preceding her in death: sisters-in-law Shari Kay Graves (Cline), Georgia Lynn Finster (Paul), Trudy Lea Rushton (Robert) and brother-in-law Stacy Don Jacobs.
Her Funeral will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday October 11, 2025 at the Grantsville Stake Center 550 E. Durfee St. with a viewing from 11:00-12:30 prior to the funeral.
Her family wishes to thank Lacey Cooper NP, Sarah Marshall CNA and Jade Landis RN with Active home health and hospice, along with the staff at Cottage Glen Assisted Living Center for taking such kind care of our Mom. We would like to especially thank Michelle Bolinder RN for going above and beyond for many years in the personal care of both our parents. Sandra loved you all so much!
