It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Sue Monier, a lifelong resident of Ville Platte, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the age of 76. Her spirit will forever be cherished by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow in the Te Mamou Cemetery with Father Billy Massie officiating services.
Sandra was born in Ville Platte on Saturday, December 13, 1947 and was a vibrant individual whose love for music and dancing lit up every room she entered. She was known for her enthusiasm as a majorette, and her infectious joy was often found on her exciting casino trips. Above all, she found great delight in attending her grandchildren’s games and events, taking pride in their countless achievements.
A dedicated educator, Sandra devoted over 20 years to teaching at Sacred Heart Elementary School, nurturing and inspiring her students with her passion for learning. She earned her degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, graduating summa cum laude, a testament to her commitment to education and personal growth.
Sandra leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memories: her son, Dr. Charles “Chuck” S. Monier and his wife, Courtney; her daughter, Katra M. Morrison and her fiancé, Bryan Brignac; and her eleven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Holmes, Jenifer Monier Endsley (Trey), Dori Todd Monier, Michael Monier, Taylor Monier, Kelly Monier, Logan Morrison (Selena), and Alyssa Brignac, Lucas, Jack, and Adalee Godeaux. She will also be remembered by her great-grandchildren: Riley, Levi, Jensen, Jacquelyn, Landry, and Collins and her sister, Gloria Aucoin.
Sandra now joins in Heaven her beloved husband, Joe Ray Monier; son, Todd Monier; parents, Nelson Fontenot and Effie Deshotel Fontenot; brother-in-law, Jack Aucoin; and, brother and sister-in-law, Jacques and Ethel Coreil.
Family and friends are invited to reflect on Sandra’s beautiful life during a visitation at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Sunday, September 8, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Sandra’s legacy of love, joy, and dedication to her family and community will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
