Sandra "Sandy" Elaine Myerchin, 72, of Millville, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at her home.

Sandy was born on October 22, 1952, in Bethany, the daughter of Raymond William and Maxine (Gorham) Myerchin.

Survivors include: brother, William Raymond (LaVern) Myerchin of Miller; four sisters: Sue (Paul) Davault of Circleville, KS, Kathy (Dennis) Cooper of Shell Knob, Patty Myerchin of Richmond, and Marcella (Michael) Tennyson of Springfield; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandy was raised and educated in Richmond, graduating with the Class of 1970. She went on to attend College of the Ozarks and later Central Missouri State University. Following her college education, she proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where she trained in journalism. After completing her military service, Sandy moved to Kansas City and began her career in journalism, working for the Kansas City Star and later returning to her roots at the Richmond News.

Sandy had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. She performed at various venues throughout the area and found joy in teaching guitar lessons to others. Her compassion extended to animals, particularly her beloved cats. Sandy also enjoyed woodworking and had a passion for shooting sports, hobbies she pursued with enthusiasm and skill. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice in memory of Sandy. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
