Sandra Oliff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home - Montross Chapel on Jul. 25, 2025.
Sandra Darlene Yeatman Oliff, 62, of Montross, VA, passed away at sunrise on July 23rd at her home after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born to her parents, William H. and Katie M. Yeatman. Sandra was the youngest of three kids and lived in Westmoreland County her entire life.
She went to Washington and Lee High School and graduated in 1981. While in school, Sandra participated in and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Sandra met her late beloved husband, Jack H. Oliff, while working at the old Quick Stop in Montross. After Jack's witty pick-up line and charming personality, Sandra would eventually spend the next 26 years with him, with 19 of those years married. Sandra became the mom to six step-children, whom she loved wholeheartedly from Jack's first marriage. Then, in April 1992, Sandra gave birth to her son William "Holden" Oliff, who was her pride and joy.
Sandra worked in production for most of her adult life. For the past 19 years, Sandra worked at Geico as a Document Specialist III in the National Print Mail Center. Sandra was excited to be able to finally retire. While working at Geico, she met her BFF Pat Johnson. From day one, they had an instant friendship.
Sandra was a kind, loving, and understanding person who saw the best in everyone. She always pushed everyone to be the better version of themselves. Sandra had a passion for being the mom to everyone and earned the nickname of "Momma Sam". Sandra also had a passion for making flower arrangements and loved to watch the sun rise.
Sandra was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in September 2024. Sandra fought against the cancer, going through chemo and numerous other medical problems throughout the last 10 months. Unfortunately, the cancer spread, and she started experiencing a steady decline in her health. Over that time, her and Holden's relationship only grew stronger, where Holden would become her caregiver and was with her at her bedside upon her passing.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, William H. "Bubby" Yeatman Jr. and Faye (Yeatman) Hutt; her beloved husband, Jack H.; and step-son Jody; along with numerous other family members
Sandra is survived by her son, Holden; her step-children: Mike, Jackie, Johnny, Nancy, and Melinda, and their families. She is also survived her boyfriend Wayne Saunders and numerous friends, family members, and her "other" kids.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Welch Funeral Home in Montross. Sandra's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service Sandra will be inurned beside her beloved Jack in the Ephesus Christian Church Cemetery.
Sandra and Holden would like to extend several special thank yous to everyone who has cared for, treated, or even supported them during this time. A simple thank you could never express the sincere gratitude, love, and appreciation back to everyone. A sincere thank you to the team at Riverside Hospice, you all are true angels and a blessing.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you honor Sandra's memory by making a donation to either the Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Riverside Foundation.
