Sandra "Joann" Oswell was born on July 17, 1941 to the late Roy and Helen Pridmore Sisk . As an only child, she was raised in the Judson Mill Community , and was active in Greenville county School district.
As a young child, she performed in many musical venues. At the age of 5, she sang on the Youth on parade radio on WFBC with Bob Poole and others. She was in the very first Spring Sing with Greenville Co schools. She also wrote the school alma mater for LP Hollis Jr High School.
In 1957 she married John Oswell and together were in several dance competitions in the area, winning several trophies.
In 1968, she graduated for Greenville Co School of Nursing, where she earned her LPN. Known as Ozzie to her coworkers ,she went on to work at Greenville General Hospital til Greenville Memorial Hospital opened in 1972. She worked as a general surgery nurse til her retirement in 2004.
She was an active member of Earle St Baptist for 50+ years including working with youth, WMU, and XYZ.
She was predeceased by ex husband John Oswell , partner Stephen Berry, son Timothy, daughter in law Linda, and Lynn Hobus. She is survived by son Sean, daughters Kelly( Addison), Elissa(Eric), and Noellen (Eddie), others Buzz Keifer (Brandy), Julie Vansickle (Richard), and Terry Hobus, 12 grandchildren, a plethra of greats and an ultimate number of great greats! Her legacy will truly live on!
A receiving of friends will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 12-2, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30, at Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 West Earle St, Greenville, SC 29609.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to ESBC.
