Sandra Parker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jul. 22, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Sandra Means Parker, who left us on July 20, 2024, after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend to many.
Sandy was born to Minnie and Carl Means on March 22, 1956, in Gadsden, AL. She was predeceased by both of her parents. She is survived by two sisters, Patsy (Rick) and Shelia (Kyle); and three brothers, Edward (Gail), Kenneth (Becky), and Cecil; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sandy was the heart of our home and family and best known as "Missa" to all that loved her. She is also survived by her three wonderful daughters, Amy (Brett), DeAnna (Ryan), and Kristin, who she raised in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. She was a grandmother to Emma, Christopher, Haley (Alex), Savannah, Makinzie and Peyton and a great grandmother to Axel and Ace, who will also miss her greatly. She was the "fun Missa," teaching all of the kids all of her crafts and quirkiness, and generally spoiling them rotten.
She was also extremely blessed to have her bonus family, Suzann Moebes, Rebecca Frixen and Robert Gore (Lisa) and although they did not share blood that was never an issue with her as all she saw was love.
Sandy lived a life of no regrets, fulfilling her dream and serving on the Norfolk Police Department for 30+ years. Sandy was known for her hearty laugh, kind heart and her amazing smelling candles. The family relied on her as the family historian and the keeper of "Nanny's Dudes", which is currently at 82. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.
Sandy was the best at daily check ins with so many of us that it became a blessed constant in our lives so please continue that with others in her memory.
A celebration of life will be held at Tabernacle Church at 7000 Granby Street in Norfolk on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10am. All that she requested was for everyone to dress casually (Auburn blue and orange preferred colors) share a laugh and celebrate her journey home.
